Saeed in his own words

Peace be upon you. I am from Oman, I am 24, my previous weight was 119 kg, my height is 175 cm, and my current weight is 67.

First, I thank Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi. I was hesitant to have the surgery because I was scared. I traveled with my family, and I had it in my head that I would go back without doing it. But when I arrived and met the doctor, he encouraged me a lot to do it, and thank God I was convinced and did it.

There was a big competition between me and my family over who would lose the most weight. I followed the plan, and Dr. Sally followed us up and gave us advice, and every so often we sent her our photos to show how we looked.

Thank God my weight is now 67, with no loose belly skin or paunch. My body is firm, and everyone is amazed at how I reached this weight in less than 6 months.

From hesitation to decision

Saeed weighed 119 kg at 175 cm, a BMI of 38.9, at the age of 24. He traveled from Oman to Jordan with his family, hesitant and afraid of surgery, and even planned to go home without having it. After his consultation with Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi, which explained the procedure, its results and the follow-up plan, he was convinced, and the medical assessment confirmed laparoscopic mini gastric bypass as the right option for him.

A family journey and a weight-loss competition

Saeed had his surgery alongside members of his family, and the journey turned into a positive competition over who would lose the most weight. They all stuck to the meal plan, their dietitian followed them with advice, and they sent photos from time to time to track progress. This family support and ongoing follow-up are among the main reasons for commitment and a fast, healthy result.

Less than 6 months later

Saeed reached 67 kg (BMI 21.9), with a firm body and no noticeable loose belly skin or paunch, and people around him are amazed at how quickly he got there. A young age and skin elasticity, combined with protein and activity, help a lot in reducing loose skin after fast weight loss.

The journey, step by step

  1. Before surgery: 119 kg

Excess weight with a BMI of 38.9 at age 24, with hesitation and fear of surgery.

  2. Traveling from Oman and the consultation

Traveling to Jordan with his family; after the consultation with Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi and an explanation of the procedure he was convinced.

  3. Laparoscopic mini gastric bypass

Surgery at Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi’s center alongside family members, then a gradual move from liquids to normal food.

  4. Sticking to the plan and nutrition follow-up

Following the meal plan and dietitian’s advice, sending regular photos, in a positive family competition.

  5. In under 6 months: 67 kg

52 kg lost with a firm body and no noticeable loose belly skin.

Doctor's comment

Saeed’s experience shows the value of a calm consultation that removes fear and clarifies the picture before deciding, and the effect of family support and nutrition follow-up on how quickly results come. Going from a BMI of 38.9 to 21.9 in under 6 months is an excellent result, and a young age helps with skin elasticity and less loose skin. Bypass patients need lifelong vitamins and supplements and regular tests for iron, vitamin B12, calcium and vitamin D, along with a protein-rich diet to protect muscle. Results vary from patient to patient.

He went from 119 kg to 67 kg, a loss of 52 kg, in less than 6 months after surgery, reaching a normal weight for his height of 175 cm.

Does fast weight loss after a bypass cause loose skin?

Loose skin depends on age, skin elasticity, the amount of weight lost and commitment to protein and exercise. Younger people usually have less, as in Saeed’s case, while some patients may later need body contouring once weight is stable.
