How much weight did Mohammed from Saudi Arabia lose after mini gastric bypass?
Mohammed from Saudi Arabia (29 years old, 162 cm) went from 140 kg to 85 kg after mini gastric bypass with Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi, a loss of 55 kg, with hardly any discomfort after surgery. Results vary from patient to patient.
Mohammed in his own words
Mohammed from Saudi Arabia. I am 29, I weighed 140 kg, and my height is 162 cm.
First I would like to thank Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi for the trust I found, and the medical staff at the hospital for their kind treatment.
I was very hesitant about surgery, but after seeing people I personally know have it with the doctor, I was convinced, thank God, and I had a mini gastric bypass. Dr. Mohammad recommended it because I had severe obesity, and I love sweets and was addicted to them, especially fizzy drinks and desserts in general.
By God’s grace and then the efforts of the excellent Dr. Sally, her constant follow-up and her advice, I reached a great place and my weight came down. Honestly there was no discomfort at all after the surgery, and now I weigh 85.
I advise everyone suffering from obesity to go quickly and have the surgery with Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi, and I am happy to answer any questions.

Why mini gastric bypass and not a sleeve?
Mohammed weighed 140 kg at 162 cm, severe obesity with a BMI above 50, and he consumed a lot of sweets and fizzy drinks. Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi therefore recommended mini gastric bypass, which combines a smaller stomach with reduced absorption and helps curb cravings for sugar. It is often a suitable choice for people who love sweets and for higher body weights.
From hesitation to 85 kg
Mohammed was very wary of surgery, but seeing people he knew personally have it with the doctor convinced him. After the operation he felt hardly any discomfort, followed the advice and constant follow-up of dietitian Sally, and reached 85 kg, a loss of 55 kg. He advises anyone struggling with obesity not to wait.

- Today: 85 kg
55 kg lost, and happy to answer questions from people who are hesitant.
For patients with severe obesity who rely heavily on sweets and fizzy drinks, mini gastric bypass is often more suitable than a sleeve, because it reduces absorption and curbs cravings for sugar. Losing 55 kg is an excellent result. We remind bypass patients that they need lifelong vitamins and supplements and regular blood tests, and should avoid fizzy drinks to protect their result. Results vary from patient to patient.
This story reflects one patient's experience. Your result depends on your starting weight, health, the chosen procedure and your commitment after surgery. Only a personal medical evaluation can tell you what to expect.

Frequently asked questions
How much weight did Mohammed lose after mini gastric bypass?
He went from 140 kg to 85 kg, a loss of 55 kg, after mini gastric bypass with ongoing nutrition follow-up.
I am addicted to sweets and fizzy drinks: is a sleeve or a bypass better?
Mini gastric bypass is often more suitable for people who love sugar and fizzy drinks, because a sleeve only reduces portion size and can be bypassed with high-calorie liquids and sweets. The surgeon decides on the best procedure after assessing weight, eating habits and health.
Can I drink fizzy drinks after gastric bypass?
It is best to avoid them. The gas causes bloating and discomfort, and the sugar can trigger dumping syndrome after a bypass, as well as slowing weight loss or causing weight regain.
Is recovery after mini gastric bypass difficult?
Mini gastric bypass is done laparoscopically. Most patients walk the same day, leave hospital within one to two days, and return to office work within one to two weeks, though experiences vary.
Can patients from Saudi Arabia have the surgery in Jordan?
