Mohammed in his own words

Mohammed Bajandouh from Saudi Arabia, previous weight 150 kg.

I was hesitant about the sleeve. I did a strict diet but it didn’t work, so I started thinking about the sleeve, and after seeing how it’s done and how simple it is, I decided to have it. I traveled to Jordan and asked my friends who study there about the best doctor for the operation. They told me about Dr. Mohammad Abdulwahab Al-Zaitawi, and indeed I had the surgery with Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi.

Thank God the surgery was successful, and the nursing staff took excellent care of me. I thank dietitian Sally Abdo, who stayed caring for months after the surgery and still gives me a meal and exercise plan.

Today, thank God, one year after the surgery I weigh 87, all thanks to God and then to Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi and dietitian Sally Abdo.

I wish I could turn back time and have had it long ago.

After strict dieting: a decision based on a trusted recommendation

Mohammed weighed 150 kg and tried strict dieting without results, so he began considering the sleeve after learning how it is done and how straightforward it is. When he traveled to Jordan he asked friends studying there about the best surgeon, and they recommended Dr. Mohammad Abdulwahab Al-Zaitawi. He had a successful operation with excellent care from the nursing staff.

A full year: 63 kg lighter

Dietitian Sally Abdo followed Mohammed for months after surgery and still gives him a meal and exercise plan today. After one year he reached 87 kg, a loss of 63 kg, and he sums up his experience in one sentence: “I wish I could turn back time and have had it long ago.”

The journey, step by step

  1. Before surgery: 150 kg

Hesitation about surgery, and a strict diet that failed.

  2. Learning about the sleeve

Understanding how the operation is done and making the decision.

  3. Friends’ recommendation in Jordan

Friends studying in Jordan recommended Dr. Mohammad Abdulwahab Al-Zaitawi.

  4. Sleeve surgery and follow-up

A successful laparoscopic sleeve, with a meal and exercise plan from dietitian Sally Abdo.

  5. One year later: 87 kg

63 kg lost, and a wish that he had done it sooner.

Doctor's comment

Strict dieting usually gives temporary weight loss followed by weight regain, an experience most obesity patients go through before surgery. Many patients tell us after surgery that they waited too long, but the most important thing is a decision based on a medical assessment at the right time, before the complications of obesity worsen. Losing 63 kg in a year is an excellent result, and we recommend continuing with protein, exercise, vitamins and follow-up to keep the weight stable. Results vary from patient to patient.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight did Mohammed Bajandouh lose after sleeve gastrectomy?

He went from 150 kg to 87 kg, a loss of 63 kg, in one year after surgery.

Why doesn’t strict dieting work for severe obesity?

Harsh diets are hard to sustain, slow down the body’s metabolism and increase hunger, so the weight usually returns once they stop. A sleeve reduces stomach size and the hunger hormone, making small portions easier to maintain long term.

When is the right time for sleeve gastrectomy?

When BMI is 40 or more, or 35 or more with obesity-related conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, and previous weight-loss attempts have failed. Delaying can allow these conditions to worsen, so an early medical assessment is recommended.

Does nutrition follow-up continue after the first year?

It is recommended. After the first year comes the weight-maintenance phase, and a balanced meal and exercise plan helps keep the result and avoid weight regain.

Can patients from Saudi Arabia have surgery in Jordan?

Yes. The center receives patients from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. You can start with a remote assessment by sending your weight, height, age and medical history via WhatsApp +962 79 570 2800, then coordinate your surgery date, with remote nutrition follow-up after returning home.
