Hussein in his own words

Peace be upon you, I’m Hussein Al-Kubaisi from Qatar. I weighed 120, and my current weight is 68, a year and a half after sleeve gastrectomy. I used to struggle with excess weight, and thanks to God and to Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi, I started to love myself, and moving became easy when sitting and standing. I thank the doctor very much, and I’d say the surgery is simple.

Why did he choose sleeve gastrectomy?

Hussein’s excess weight made everyday movements like sitting and standing tiring. After a medical assessment at the center, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy was chosen as the right option for him, and he travelled from Qatar to Jordan for the surgery.

Life a year and a half later

After losing 52 kg, moving became much easier and his self-confidence grew to the point that he says he loves himself. Reaching 68 kg in a year and a half reflects his commitment to the dietary instructions and follow-up after surgery.

The journey, step by step

  1. Before surgery: 120 kg and limited mobility

Excess weight made sitting, standing and daily movement tiring.

  2. Contact from Qatar and medical assessment

Initial remote assessment, then pre-operative tests in Jordan and an explanation of the laparoscopic sleeve plan.

  3. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy

Surgery at Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi’s center, followed by a gradual move from liquids to normal food.

  4. First months: steady loss and easier movement

Continuous weight loss with a clear improvement in sitting and standing.

  5. A year and a half later: 68 kg

52 kg lost and greater self-confidence, while keeping healthy eating habits and follow-up.

Doctor's comment

Hussein’s story shows that sleeve gastrectomy results are not measured in kilograms alone, but in easier movement, self-confidence and quality of life. His feeling that the surgery was simple reflects his personal experience, but sleeve gastrectomy remains a surgical procedure with potential risks like any operation, which is why we insist on a full assessment beforehand and follow-up afterwards. Results vary depending on starting weight, health and commitment.

Frequently asked questions

How much did Hussein Al-Kubaisi lose after sleeve gastrectomy?

He lost 52 kg, from 120 to 68 kg, in a year and a half after surgery.

Is sleeve gastrectomy simple and risk-free?

Many patients like Hussein find the surgery and recovery easier than expected, but it remains an operation with potential risks such as bleeding, leaks or blood clots. Careful pre-operative assessment, a specialized surgeon and follow-up greatly reduce these risks.

Does movement improve after weight loss?

For most patients, yes. Losing weight reduces pressure on the joints and back and improves fitness, so everyday movement becomes easier, as it did for Hussein.

Can patients from Qatar have the surgery in Jordan?

Yes. The center welcomes patients from Qatar and the Gulf. You can start with a remote assessment by sending your weight, height, age and health status via WhatsApp +962 79 570 2800, then coordinate the surgery date and stay.

How long should a sleeve patient stay in Jordan after surgery?

The doctor decides based on each case. Patients travelling from abroad are usually advised to stay a few days after surgery to make sure recovery is on track before flying, with remote follow-up after returning home.
