Amani in her own words

I’m Amani from Palestine. I weighed 95, I lost 36, thank God, and now I weigh 59. I had my sleeve with Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi two years ago, and thank God I’m very comfortable. I used to have a lot of groin pain, fatigue and heaviness, and after losing the weight I got rid of them, thank God.

Why did she choose sleeve gastrectomy?

Amani suffered from recurring pain in the groin area, constant fatigue and a feeling of heaviness in daily activities because of excess weight. After a medical assessment at the center, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy was chosen as the right option for her.

Life two years later

After losing 36 kg, her groin pain, fatigue and heaviness disappeared, and she became lighter and more active. Two years after surgery and still at 59 kg reflects her commitment to healthy eating habits and follow-up.

The journey, step by step

  1. Before surgery: 95 kg with pain and fatigue

Recurring groin pain, constant fatigue and a feeling of heaviness due to excess weight.

  2. Medical assessment and preparation

Pre-operative tests and assessment, with an explanation of the laparoscopic sleeve plan and pre-operative diet.

  3. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy

Surgery at Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi’s center, then a gradual move from liquids to normal food.

  4. First year: 36 kg lost

Gradual weight loss to 59 kg, with groin pain, fatigue and heaviness gone.

  5. Two years later: still at 59 kg

Stable weight and full comfort in daily life while keeping healthy eating habits.

Doctor's comment

Amani’s story confirms that sleeve gastrectomy improves quality of life, not just weight; groin pain, fatigue and heaviness are often linked to excess weight and improve as it comes down. What matters most in her case is maintaining the result two years later, which comes from commitment to the diet and follow-up. Results vary depending on starting weight, health and commitment.

Frequently asked questions

How much did Amani lose after sleeve gastrectomy?

She lost 36 kg, from 95 to 59 kg, and is still maintaining her weight two years after surgery.

Is sleeve gastrectomy suitable for someone weighing around 95 kg?

The decision does not depend on weight alone but on body mass index (weight relative to height) and related conditions and symptoms. The doctor decides after a full assessment of each case.

Do joint pain, groin pain and fatigue go away after weight loss?

In many patients this pain and fatigue ease with weight loss as pressure on the joints and muscles decreases, but any persistent pain should be assessed medically because it can have other causes.

Can you maintain your weight two years after a sleeve?

Yes, as in Amani’s story, provided you stick to small, protein-rich meals, physical activity and follow-up, because neglecting healthy habits can lead to some weight returning.

Can patients from Palestine have the surgery in Jordan?

Yes. The center welcomes patients from Palestine and outside Jordan. You can start with a remote assessment by sending your weight, height, age and health status via WhatsApp +962 79 570 2800.
