Majed in his own words
Majed Al-Rasalani from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, born in 1983. I had sleeve gastrectomy. Previous weight 128 kg, current weight 80 kg, 10 months after the surgery.
I suffered from pain in my joints and knees, tiredness with any effort, and embarrassment because of my obesity. Thank God, after losing weight my joint pain eased, walking and moving became easier, and I feel at peace, praise be to God.
Of course I can’t describe how I was with clothes before the surgery, how I struggled to find my size and couldn’t wear what I wanted. Now, thank God, everything is fine; nothing is easier than finding clothes that fit me without any hassle, and I wear whatever I like.
I would like to send special thanks to Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi and dietitian Sally for what I have achieved, and I advise anyone not to hesitate to have this successful weight-loss surgery. Peace be upon you.

Why Majed chose sleeve gastrectomy
Majed weighed 128 kg and suffered from joint and knee pain, quick exhaustion with any effort and embarrassment because of his weight, as well as difficulty finding clothes that fit. After a full medical assessment, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy was chosen as the right option for him, and he traveled from Saudi Arabia to Jordan for the surgery.
Life 10 months later
Majed reached 80 kg after 10 months, a loss of 48 kg. His joint and knee pain eased, because every kilo lost takes load off the knees; walking and moving became easier, his mood improved, and he now finds his size easily and wears what he likes, with ongoing follow-up from his dietitian.
The journey, step by step
- Before surgery: 128 kg
Joint and knee pain, tiredness with any effort, embarrassment about his weight and difficulty finding clothes.
- Contact from Saudi Arabia and medical assessment
Assessment, tests and an explanation of the surgery, choosing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy as the best option.
- Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy
Surgery at Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi’s center, then a gradual move from liquids to normal food.
- The first months: steady loss and better joints
Gradual weight loss with dietitian follow-up and a noticeable improvement in knee pain and walking.
- After 10 months: 80 kg
48 kg lost, easier movement, peace of mind and freedom in choosing clothes.
Majed’s experience shows the effect of weight loss on the joints and knees: every kilo lost removes several times that load from the knees when walking, which is why pain and ease of movement improve clearly with a 48 kg loss. Sticking to protein and regular light exercise after surgery strengthens muscles, protects the joints and maintains the result. Results vary depending on starting weight, health and commitment.
