Ali in his own words
Ali from Kuwait. I am 37, my height is 175 cm, and my previous weight was 100 kg.
I was hesitant about the sleeve. I did a crash diet but it didn’t work. Then I started thinking about the sleeve, and after seeing how it is done and how easy it is, I decided to have it and travel to Jordan. I asked people I know in Kuwait and my friends studying there about the best doctor for the surgery, and they told me about Dr. Mohammad Abdulwahab Al-Zaitawi.
That encouraged me, so I went to meet the doctor. He explained the surgery in more detail, and after that I felt confident and had it. Thank God the surgery was successful, and the nursing staff did everything in caring for me.
I thank dietitian Sally Abdo, who went through the plan with me and kept caring for months after the surgery, giving me a diet and exercise plan to this day.
Today, thank God, six months after the surgery I weigh 75, with no loose skin or marks from the surgery, praise be to God.

After a crash diet failed: a well-considered decision
Ali weighed 100 kg at 175 cm at the age of 37. A crash diet gave no result, so he started reading about laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. He asked acquaintances in Kuwait and friends studying in Jordan about the best surgeon, and they recommended Dr. Mohammad Abdulwahab Al-Zaitawi. When they met, the doctor explained the details of the surgery and Ali made his decision with confidence.
A successful operation and follow-up until today
The surgery was successful and the nursing staff took excellent care of him. Dietitian Sally Abdo followed him with a diet and exercise plan for months after surgery and still does today. After 6 months he reached 75 kg, a loss of 25 kg, with no loose skin or visible surgical marks, as the small laparoscopic incisions almost disappear over time.
The journey, step by step
- Before surgery: 100 kg
100 kg at 175 cm, and a crash diet that didn’t work.
- Research and recommendations
Reading about laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and asking acquaintances in Kuwait and friends studying in Jordan about the best surgeon.
- Meeting the doctor and the sleeve
A detailed explanation, then a successful laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy with excellent nursing care.
- Diet and exercise follow-up
A diet and exercise plan from dietitian Sally Abdo, with follow-up continuing months after surgery.
- After 6 months: 75 kg
25 kg lost with no loose skin or visible surgical marks.
Ali’s case shows that a sleeve is not only for people with very high weights; it can also suit people whose repeated diets have failed, when the medical criteria are met after an assessment. Losing 25 kg in 6 months with no loose skin is an expected result with commitment, because the weight lost is moderate and skin elasticity is good. The small laparoscopic incisions usually fade over time. Results vary depending on weight, age and commitment.
This story reflects one patient's experience. Your result depends on your starting weight, health, the chosen procedure and your commitment after surgery. Only a personal medical evaluation can tell you what to expect.

Frequently asked questions
How much weight did Ali from Kuwait lose after sleeve gastrectomy?
He went from 100 kg to 75 kg, a loss of 25 kg, within 6 months of surgery.
Is a sleeve suitable for someone weighing around 100 kg?
It depends on BMI, related health conditions and the history of weight-loss attempts. The surgeon decides eligibility after a full assessment and tests; weight alone is not the criterion.
Does sleeve gastrectomy leave scars?
The surgery is done laparoscopically through very small incisions, and the marks usually fade gradually until they are barely noticeable, as in Ali’s case.
Why don’t crash diets work long term?
Crash diets slow metabolism and increase hunger, so many people regain weight after stopping. A sleeve reduces stomach size and the hunger hormone, making it easier to stick to small portions in the long term.
Can patients from Kuwait have the surgery in Jordan?
Yes. The center receives patients from Kuwait and the Gulf. You can start with a remote assessment by sending your weight, height, age and medical history via WhatsApp +962 79 570 2800, then coordinate the surgery date and accommodation, with remote nutrition follow-up after returning home.
