Hussein in his own words

Hussein Al-Yami from Saudi Arabia. I am 27, I weighed 174 kg, and my height is 187 cm.

First, I thank Dr. Mohammad Al-Zaitawi. I was hesitant to have the surgery because I was scared. I traveled with my family, and I had it in my head that I would go back without doing it. But when I arrived and met the doctor, he encouraged me a lot to do it, and thank God I was convinced and did it.

There was a big competition between me and my family over who would lose the most weight. I followed the plan, and Dr. Sally followed us up and gave us advice, and every so often we sent her our photos to show how we looked.

Thank God my weight is now 101, with no loose belly skin or paunch. My body is firm, and everyone is amazed at how I reached this weight in less than 6 months.

He turned weight loss into a fun competition with his family and reached 101 kg in less than 6 months, a loss of 73 kg, with a firm body, no loose belly skin or paunch, and a clear change in his face that caught the attention of everyone around him.

Doctor's comment

Hussein’s case shows that fear of surgery is natural and usually fades with a clear explanation and careful assessment. Losing 73 kg in less than 6 months is an excellent result driven by commitment to the meal plan and regular follow-up, and a young age helps the skin tighten and reduces loose skin. We advise continuing protein, exercise and regular follow-up to maintain the weight. Results vary depending on starting weight, age and commitment.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight did Hussein Al-Yami lose after sleeve gastrectomy?

He went from 174 kg to 101 kg, a loss of 73 kg, in less than 6 months after surgery.

Is a sleeve suitable for weights above 170 kg?

A sleeve can be suitable for many people with high weights after a full medical assessment including tests and heart and lung function. The surgeon chooses the most suitable procedure based on weight, health and eating habits.

I am afraid of surgery: is that normal?

Yes. Fear and hesitation are common before bariatric surgery. Sitting with the surgeon and understanding the laparoscopic steps, recovery time and follow-up helps you decide with confidence, as Hussein did.

Does fast weight loss after a sleeve cause loose skin?

Loose skin depends on age, skin elasticity, the amount of weight lost and commitment to protein and exercise. Younger people usually have less, and some patients may later need body contouring depending on their case.

Can patients from Saudi Arabia have the surgery in Jordan?

Yes. The center receives patients from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. You can start with a remote assessment by sending your weight, height, age and medical history via WhatsApp +962 79 570 2800, then coordinate the surgery date and accommodation, with remote nutrition follow-up after returning home.
